What do we mean by Quality?

We mean the ability of Business Systems to deliver intended functionality to the benefit of the sponsoring business entity in and accurate and timely manner. Software is an important component of many aspects of a Business System but not the only component. There are two key parts to achieving Business System Quality; 1) clear definition of the business requirements and 2) accurate implementation of the system to meet those requirements. Traditionally, Quality focuses on software testing but that does not address the acknowledged primary cause of failure to meet the goals of the business: poor-quality requirements. Simply put, high quality requirements are crucial to high quality systems, systems that deliver the intended benefits to business I.e. Quality.

What do we mean by Business Requirements?

We mean the most general case of Business Requirements. Things the business needs to develop a solution independent investment in making a change; a change that supports business goals, objectives, or outcomes. These can be user stories, use cases, business requirement documents, UML and other types of diagrams, and even as-built systems in the absence of documentation. In general, we use the term Business Requirements to refer to all the information needed to completely describe a business system or change.

What do we mean by Functional Design?

We mean the documents, diagrams and models that clearly define the functional behavior that satisfies the Business Requirements as well as the functional interfaces to all other sources and clients needed to implement the system. The Functional Design is the primary input to development, configuration and test.

What is Integrated?

High quality requirements must be coupled with complete verification of the functional implementation. This is accomplished by effective and efficient testing. To achieve the best results test planning must be tightly integrated with the requirements and functional design to ensure high coverage and meaningful results. IQM is our process to ensure that the system behaviors necessary to satisfy the Business Requirements are documented in a clear, complete and unambiguous Functional Design so they can be implemented effectively and tested directly and completely. This process requires collaboration between all participants throughout a Business System development project. It also requires integrated use of key technologies to validate requirements and verify behaviors in an integrated fashion. The key technologies include various types of modeling, generation of high coverage test libraries and automated execution of test cases.

We provide IQM Studio to bring together the key technologies to validate requirements and automate the testing in an integrated way. We have developed complete services to manage the integrations necessary to reach the highest levels of quality throughout the Business System life cycle.

So, why Integrated Quality Management?

IQM makes Requirements Development and Functional Design clearer while making coding and testing easier.
